Citroën announces All-New ë-C3

Citroën is challenging the rulebook for European-designed cars with the announcement of the All-New, All-Electric ë-C3. The new electric model promises best-in-class comfort, an easy and relaxed electric experience and brilliant value for money as it proudly heads up the fourth-generation line-up of Citroën’s most popular car. Most significantly, the All-New ë-C3 begins a new chapter for the brand as it is set to reinvent itself to meet the challenges of making all-electric mobility accessible to all – it is the first European-designed and European-built all-electric B-hatchback created for customers wanting the benefit of zero-emission travel at an affordable and fair price.

Thierry Koskas, the Global CEO of Citroën says, “Offering affordable vehicles has always been a major part of Citroën’s DNA. However, customer expectations for vehicles in the B-segment have changed, notably with the rise in popularity of SUVs and the increasing desire to drive electric in and around our cities, and it has become more challenging for European vehicle makers to meet those expectations. Uniquely, Citroën is daring to do exactly that with the all-new, all-electric ë-C3 for European buyers: a fresh, sharp, and comfortable B-hatch that is fully-equipped, specifically designed for and made in Europe, and extremely affordable with on-the-road prices starting from under £23,000 in the UK.”

For the first time in the history of the C3 hatchback, Citroën has specified its innovative and exclusive Advanced Comfort Suspension as standard equipment on every All-New ë-C3. The Progressive Hydraulic Cushions installed, invisible to the driver and occupants, allow for a ‘magic carpet ride’ feeling of comfort on the road thanks to the use of hydraulic bump stops – this gives the impression of the car gliding when driving over uneven ground by tuning the All-New ë-C3’s suspension. Meanwhile, the spacious interior has been designed to provide a welcoming ambience for the driver as it includes the Advanced Comfort Seats as well as increased headroom, elbowroom and knee clearance. Storing luggage is also an easy task due to the taller interior and number of storage areas.

The All-New ë-C3 also brings an easy electric experience. With the 83kW electric motor and fully automatic transmission which can accelerate the car from 0-62mph in around 11 seconds, as well as possessing a provisional top speed of 84mph, the All-New ë-C3 delivers the necessary performance to deal with everyday driving and traffic. The new e-Routes app, specifically for Citroën electric vehicles, can also help provide an enjoyable navigation experience. Through the app, owners will be able to plan journeys, monitor charging statuses as well as battery level in real-time.

The All-New ë-C3 boasts an array of equipment and smart solutions that complement the needs of the customer. With the introduction of the C-Zen Lounge, the driver and front passenger are treated to a clean and uncluttered view forward, as if looking through a wide arch, thanks to the large windscreen and horizontal fascia that stretches across the entire vehicle, and is flanked by Citroën’s signature vertical air vents. The replacement of the traditional instrument cluster provides simple access to key information without the driver having to take their eyes off the road. Also inside is a built-in smartphone holder which allows drivers to auto-launch a new app using NFC (Near Field Communication) wireless technology for the infotainment system.

With Citroën's ambitions of making electric mobility accessible to all, the 199-mile ë-C3 is fully aligned within the 'Fair Pricing' strategy in the UK and across Europe, with the entry-level 'YOU!' version starting at a price of £23,000. According to Koskas, Citroën will be distributing the car in 2024 as part of their aim to build the brand's presence in Europe.
