How Do You Connect My Bluetooth to My Citroën?

To connect your Bluetooth to your Citroën, you need an Android Auto or Apple CarPlay compatible phone. Once you connect the phone to the car, it should automatically recognise the initiated Bluetooth connection and ask you if this is correct. You need to agree for the Citroën system to pair with your mobile phone.

If no prompt shows, you will need to go into the menu of your car and look for Bluetooth options. You can also check if you paired the devices or not; this option should be available in both your phone settings and any screens that pop up during use.

How Do You Use Wireless and Wired AppleCarPlay with your Citroën?

If you are wondering how to set up Citroën CarPlay then not to worry as this simple step-by-step guide will walk you through it easily.

The first thing you need to do is to check that you have the CarPlay App installed on your iPhone. Please open your phone and have a look for it in your Apps. If you can not see it, please go to the Apple App Store and download the CarPlay App.

Update to the latest IOS version

We heavily suggest that you are running the latest version of IOS on your phone. To do this go to your Settings app and make sure your software is up-to-date.

Connect Lightning cable to your car

Now you have checked you are running the latest IOS version and have the App installed, please connect your Apple Lightning cable to your Citroën's USB port. This USB Port is normally located near the centre console near your entertainment system, and then to your phone’s charging point.

If your car model supports Wireless CarPlay, then you may also be able to connect it without a cable. To do this, make sure your radio / stereo system is in Bluetooth mode, then press and hold the voice command button.

After this please go to your iPhone’s settings, then General, and then CarPlay. Your car should then appear as an option. Please select it to connect to the car wirelesses within there.

An iPhone message will then appear saying that Apple CarPlay is wanting to connect to your phone and certain information will appear on your car’s display. Please click allow, to continue.

You may then need to wait a few seconds for a notification to display on your Citroën’s entertainment display asking you if you want to use Apple CarPlay, please click the tick button on the right hand side to connect to be able to use Apple CarPlay.

Once connected the Apply CarPlay icon will say “Connected” on the Citroën's touchscreen.
Click the Apple Car Play icon - normally bottom right of the touchscreen, and this will bring your compatible iPhone’s Apps on the touchscreen.

The Citroën Apple CarPlay’s App’s will allow you to connect to your iPhone in a number of different ways. Some of these include WhatsApp Messenger, Amazon Music, Spotify, Audible Apps and lots more.

The Apple CarPlay Apps you can then use directly on your Citroën’s entertainment system consist of:

Why Does Your CarPlay Not Always Work with Your Citroën?

The biggest issue with CarPlay is the lack of compatibility. While it works flawlessly for most, there are always those who encounter problems and can't seem to figure out why their iPhone won't connect or how to fix it when they do. To troubleshoot your phone if this happens to you, please see our checklist below.

Is your Citroën compatible with Apple CarPlay?

First thing to check is that your Citroën comes with Apple CarPlay as standard. Not all models do, especially older models. If it doesn’t you should not worry as you may be able to purchase an add on for your Citroën, that may help to give you and your Citroën more functionality to use Apple CarPlay features indirectly via the addon.

Can the Lightning USB port send data when the phone is locked

To check if this is enabled on your phone, go to Settings, followed by Touch ID and Passcode on your iPhone. Then scroll down to the section that says: Allow Access When Locked, and make sure USB accessories are enabled.

This will then allow your Lightning USB port to connect to other devices - such as Apple CarPlay, when your phone is locked.

Is Siri enabled on your iPhone?

For Apple CarPlay to work Siri needs to be enabled.

How do I check if Siri is enabled on my phone?

To check if Siri is enabled, on your iPhone go to Settings. Then when you are in settings go to: Siri and Search. This will then bring up your Siri’s settings. A few settings to make sure are turned on are: Listen for “Hey Siri”, and Enable Siri. If these are off, and you are happy to do so, please enable these.

You will then see a popup on your iPhone, saying: “Siri sends information like your voice input, contacts, and location to Apple to process your requests.” Followed by an Enable Siri Button. You then need to click the Enable Siri button to enable this feature.

Citroën's Voice Recognition button

While using the Citroën’s Apple CarPlay feature, if you hold the voice recognition button on the right hand side of the touchscreen this will activate Siri - the iPhone’s personal assistant - in the car. You can then talk to it directly without needing to use your phone.

On some Citroën models as well, there can also be a voice recognition button on the steering wheel itself. If you tap this, you will hear the Apple beep, then the Citroën will then listen for your voice Commands and pass this to Siri to action for you.

How Do You Connect My Android Phone to My Citroën?

You can either connect using USB or over Wi-Fi. If you'd like to connect via Bluetooth, ensure you pair your phone with the car, and that your Citroën has Bluetooth compatibility. Then, you'll be able to access your phone directly through the vehicle.

To do this, press "Phone" on your dashboard control panel or steering wheel. If you want to use Android Auto over USB instead of Bluetooth, connect it using a cable and follow the prompts on the screen.

If you'd like to connect via Wi-Fi instead, ensure you connect your phone to the same network as your car. To do this, press "Settings" on the infotainment menu and go into "Wi-Fi." You can also choose how quickly Android Auto connects after turning the car on. Then, go to "General Settings" in the same menu and select "Android Auto Connection Priority." Depending on how quickly you need it to connect, you can set this as a high priority, normal priority, or low priority.

Sherwoods Motor Group Limited is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd, who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Sherwoods Motor Group Limited to act as a credit broker, not as a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed. All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18’s or over. Guarantees may be required.
