Global Debut: New Isuzu D-MAX EV Unveiled at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show

Global Debut: New Isuzu D-MAX EV Unveiled at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show

Date Posted: 14 May 2025

Isuzu has officially unveiled the ground breaking New D-Max EV at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC Birmingham, marking a milestone moment as Europe’s first fully electric, fully capable commercial pick-up truck steps onto the automotive stage.

The New D-Max EV represents the next chapter in the evolution of Isuzu’s award-winning D-Max platform, now reimagined with an advanced electric drivetrain. Featuring full-time 4WD, a payload capacity exceeding one tonne, and a maximum towing capability of 3.5 tonnes, it’s the first electric pick-up in Europe to offer genuine commercial-grade performance.

Fully Electric. Fully Capable.

Engineered for professionals who demand strength, reliability, and practicality, the D-Max EV retains the rugged DNA of the "Pick-Up Professionals." It’s powered by a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering a WLTP range of 163 miles. Dual motors provide a combined output of 140kW (43kW front / 97kW rear) and 325Nm of torque (108Nm front / 217Nm rear), enabling swift acceleration from 0-62mph in 10.1 seconds and a top speed exceeding 80mph.

With full-time 4WD, multiple levels of regenerative braking, and an Eco Mode to optimise range, the D-Max EV strikes an ideal balance between power and efficiency. Off-road credentials include a 600mm wading depth, 210mm ground clearance, and class-leading approach and departure angles of 30.5° and 24.2°, ensuring it's ready for tough terrain.

Premium Trim Options

The New D-Max EV will be offered in two high-spec trim levels, mirroring the diesel-powered DL40 and V-Cross variants, and available in both Extended Cab and Double Cab body styles. These trims combine advanced electric capability with premium features and comfort. The show vehicle was displayed in a unique, one-off Norwegian Blue finish, while the official UK colour range will be confirmed at a later date.

Quieter, Smoother Performance

Enhancing ride comfort and refinement, the New D-Max EV introduces a completely new De-Dion rear suspension system, replacing the traditional leaf spring setup. This upgrade significantly improves handling and ride quality. Thanks to several advancements within the all-electric powertrain, the D-Max EV offers up to a 10% reduction in cabin noise and vibration during full acceleration, ensuring a quieter, smoother driving experience for both drivers and passengers.

Built on the Proven D-Max Platform

The D-Max EV is built on Isuzu’s award-winning, next-generation platform—renowned for its durability, reliability, and versatility. Maintaining the same core strengths as its diesel counterpart, the electric version is underpinned by a reinforced ladder chassis designed to manage heavy-duty payloads. It also includes Rough Terrain Mode for advanced off-road capability. The vehicle comes equipped with an upgraded suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), setting a high benchmark for safety in its class. Inside, drivers will find Isuzu’s latest infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, accessed through a high-definition touchscreen display.

Driving Towards a Greener Future

Delivering zero tailpipe emissions without compromising performance, the D-Max EV is built to meet the needs of modern professionals across sectors like construction, agriculture, utilities, and eco-conscious adventure. With features such as multi-level regenerative braking, Eco Mode, and a robust lithium-ion battery backed by an 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty, it offers a cleaner, more sustainable alternative to diesel-powered workhorses—helping businesses lower their environmental impact without sacrificing capability.

Availability

Pre-orders for the New Isuzu D-Max EV will open in the second half of 2025, shortly after official pricing is revealed. The first units are scheduled to land in the UK by February 2026, with customer deliveries commencing in March 2026.

Sherwoods Motor Group Limited is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd, who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Sherwoods Motor Group Limited to act as a credit broker, not as a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed. All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18’s or over. Guarantees may be required.
